How to Be a Church Deacon


Most deacons
at your church are usually someone you can look up to, help out in your church where needed, and is a simple but rewarding position to have. Being a deacon comes with a few responsibilities, but the size of your church probably depends on how big those responsibilities will be also.






Step1

Before church service begins, greet those who walk into church and hand out bullets. Close the doors once service has begun. You may also have to ring the church bell 15 minutes before church service begins, and then usually after church service has begun too.

Step2
Help set out communion on Communion Sundays. Set up the communion table and props as explained by your minister.

Step3
