How to Host a Poetry Reading at a Nursing Home

Residents at nursing homes enjoy visits and entertainment. Many of them may not have any family or have visitors for long periods of time. When you can share almost anything with these residents, it can have more of a larger impact than you can imagine. If you are an avid poetry writer and even have some friends who are writers, think about visiting your local nursing home or healthcare center to read them some inspiring words.
--------------------------------------------

Step
1

Contact the activity director at your local healthcare center or nursing home and speak with them about your intentions of hosting a reading at their facility. Set up a day and a time to visit the residents.
Step 2

Gather some of your poems once you have permission from the activity director. Choose shorter and m ore lively poems to hold the resident's attention for at least a half an hour. You can choose inspirational, humorous, or even some about romance. It might be best to clear away from sad poems, as you are here to brighten the residents day.
Step 3

Talk to any of your friends or family members who also write or may just enjoy reading poetry. They could read poems by other well known poets as well. A lot of the residents really enjoy being read to. Continue reading about hosting a poetry reading at a Nursing Home...

How to Survive Life with a World of WarCraft Gamer

World of Warcraft has become a game that I love to hate. My husband only wishes that I would join him-yet I refuse. While surfing the Internet for those like me, I have come to find that I am not alone. This is a how-to survival article for those who also share the same home and life as a World of Warcraft gamer.

Step 1

Invest in a second computer or laptop if you don't already have one. You will never see the computer again once World of Warcraft has been installed. You are lucky to get 30 minutes of Internet time. Don't wait around. Just find one. Search Ebay, Newegg, or make payments on one at Dell. If you have your own personal home business, borrow money and get a personal loan from your local bank to purchase one.

Step 2

Speak with your husband/wife/mate the moment you see them. Once they are in WOW (World of Warcraft), you may never get to speak with them again for the rest of the day or evening. Hug or kiss them as if they are leaving for the war. It could be your last for the day.

Step 3

Ask funny questions to your spouse/mate when they are wearing noise canceling headphones as they are playing World of Warcraft . Make your face to appear serious. Do this only when you are bored. It is great entertainment for a few minutes. Later on, you can joke to them about the dumb stuff you said.

Step 4

Get involved with a hobby of your own. Who knows when you will get to spend time with your gamer again? Take up scrap-booking, knitting, crochet, reading, be a movie review, exercise, or anything else. It will become your passion-as your gamer seems to already found his/hers. How to Be a Church Deacon

Most deacons
at your church are usually someone you can look up to, help out in your church where needed, and is a simple but rewarding position to have. Being a deacon comes with a few responsibilities, but the size of your church probably depends on how big those responsibilities will be also.

Step1

Before church service begins, greet those who walk into church and hand out bullets. Close the doors once service has begun. You may also have to ring the church bell 15 minutes before church service begins, and then usually after church service has begun too.

Step2
Help set out communion on Communion Sundays. Set up the communion table and props as explained by your minister.

Step3

Begin or end with prayer at all of your deacon meetings. A different deacon may be selected to do so at each session. Continue reading about How to Be a Church Deacon...

How to Market a Jewelry Business on the Internet

A great way to get your jewelry business off it's feet is to begin marketing it on the internet. By creating a newsletter, talking on other jewelry message boards, posting products on eBay, and exchanging links, your jewelry business can begin getting out there across the world wide web. These are great marketing strategies especially if you own a jewelry website too.

Step 1

Start a newsletter that potential customers can sign up for and receive updates of new products and news about the jewelry business. Also post a link for others to sign up for the newsletter at your website.

Step2

List some of your products for sale or for auction on eBay. EBay is a great way to get your first sale when you are selling jewelry.

Step 3

Visit other jewelry message boards to speak with other jewelry makers and jewelry business owners. Add a link to your website or newsletter subscription as your signature line. Share your weblink with others who are interested. Continue reading about marketing your jewelry website on the internet...
